Asset Management Companies for real assets in the agriculture sector.

 

1. TIAA-CREF Asset Management (https://www.tiaa-cref.org)

 

Well-know for investment in agricultural resources, but invests its own assets directly in agricultural resources.

It has an agriculture fund, but it invests in the securities of agriculture related companies.

Set up a USD2.0 billion TIAA-CREF Global Agriculture LLC in 2012 to invest in farmland in the US, Australia and Brazil.

Also operates managed accounts.

 

2. Adveq (www.adveq.com)

 

Acts as a type of fund of fund manager and recommends investment in private equity and real estate funds around the world. The Adveq real assets programme focuses on closed-end funds that invest in natural resources and first steps in their transportation.

 

3. Black River Investment Management (subsidiary of Cargill) (www. Black-river.com)

Offers private equity strategies to invest in farmland around the world

 

4. Macquarie (www.mirafunds.com)  or(http://www.macquarie.com/mgl/com/agriculture)

As well as infrastructure investment, Macquarie also invests in real assets in agriculture, but the number of projects seems quite small so far (1 in Brazil and 2 in Australia).

It owns and manages agricultural assets.
