The idea for Gold Violin came in 1993, when Founder Connie Hallquist was looking for a memorable gift for her 87-year-old grandmother.

 

Hallquist was moving overseas and didn’t know when she would see her grandmother again. Determined to give her something special, she ruled out the usual predictable gifts: perfume and chocolates.

 

After a frustrating search, she purchased a plain wooden cane, sanded the surface and painted her own colorful design. Her grandmother was thrilled when she received it. Her stylish walking stick matched her positive outlook on life. Oh, how she would brag to her friends about the thoughtfulness of her granddaughter.

 

Today, our vision remains the same. Gold Violin was created for the heroes in our world—people who live rich long lives and inspire us with their experience and insights.
