Asia Pacific Leasing Market Sentiment Survey March 2022
Tenant enquiries and site visits declined as Omicron spread across the region. Activity fell noticeably in Hong Kong SAR and mainland China, which retain zero-Covid policies. Demand for traditional office space fell this quarter following the introduction of measures to contain the spread of the Omicron variant. However, flexible space demand remained solid. Pressure for higher incentives remained weak, particularly in mainland China, Australia and India. Rents continued to recover, led by Singapore, Hong Kong SAR and Japan. While sentiment in most markets faded slightly, with Hong Kong SAR among the weakest performers, the bulk of locations continued to shift away from being tenant-favoured.
